Reach the Depths node beneath the cathedral elevator
Get into the shaft underneath the cathedral elevator. The community describes two approaches: descend two floors for the key, rise one floor and follow the locked-door route; or ride to the top and jump from the balcony toward the courtyard.
Tetsa’s request for a Glaive ability is a separate, optional interaction. Lighting the Glaive is not the answer to that request.
Route note
Two ways below the elevator
- 01Key route: down two floors → collect key
- 02Up one floor → locked-door path
- 03Alternative: top floor → balcony → courtyard

Choose the route you can reach
These directions come from Marculus’s reply to a player who had already reached the late cathedral. They locate the shaft entry; they are not a complete walkthrough from the start of the game.
| Approach | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Key and locked door | The key two elevator floors down, then a locked-door path one floor above it. |
| Top balcony | The courtyard drop from the elevator’s top floor. |
Use the key-and-door approach
- Take the cathedral elevator down two floors.
- Collect the key in the room the reply also identifies as Nova’s destination.
- Go back up one floor.
- Use the route behind the locked door. It leads below the elevator.
- Once underneath, explore the shaft route rather than waiting for Tetsa to open a doorway.
Use the top-floor alternative
Take the elevator to its top floor and jump from the balcony to the courtyard. Marculus names this as the alternative way of getting underneath the elevator.
We do not have a verified jump angle or keyboard sequence for that drop. If you cannot identify the landing, use the key-and-door route instead of treating an unrelated ceiling recess as the entrance.
The Paternost shrine and brambles are different checks
In the separate Node Access Issues thread, players had more than eight minutes but could not pay a shrine near the bottom of the Paternost elevator. A reply says it needs considerably more time; the developer acknowledges a 12-minute cost elsewhere and says it will change in a later patch.
The developer points players toward the bramble route. A red time bar is not, by itself, proof that the shrine is broken. Check your installed patch before relying on the old cost; the latest visible 1.0.0.61 notes do not announce that cost change.
For the temporary state used through brambles, see the bramble and spinning-rock guide. Paying the old shrine cost does not establish that you can collect everything behind it.
Do not make Tetsa a prerequisite
The original Depths poster spent hours trying to show Tetsa the glowing Glaive. Marculus corrected the required action to Recall. The poster then completed the interaction and said it was optional.
Use Recall for Tetsa if that is the task you want to finish. For the node, continue with the elevator route. If a later build changes a doorway or journal message, use that build’s notes rather than assuming every launch report still describes it.
