Steam Deck lags on time pickups: check the missed update
If Echo Weaver pauses on each time collectible on Steam Deck, check whether an offline Deck missed the game update. The player who reported increasingly strong pickup pauses later said updating fixed it.
That is one successful report. A separate player’s slow-opening map was not confirmed fixed in the same thread.
Route note
Offline Deck → check the game update
- 01Match pauses on time collectibles
- 02Bring the Deck online and complete updates
- 03Compare the same pickups after updating
- 04A slow-opening map is a separate report

Match pickup pauses, not every performance problem
vir described a short, strong lag whenever they picked up a time collectible, worsening as they collected more. The developer asked whether it started immediately or only after some play. The later successful reply identifies a missed update while the Deck was offline.
Apply the available game update and compare
- Bring the Deck online and check Echo Weaver’s Steam update status.
- Let Steam complete any available game update before launching again.
- Check the installed build and note it for the comparison.
- Collect time again and compare the same pickup symptom.
The successful report does not name a patch
The player’s October 11 follow-up says updating solved the problem but does not name the installed build. We do not label it a proven 1.0.0.61 pickup fix or invent a Proton version, frame cap or graphics-setting remedy.
If it persists after updating, record the installed build, whether the Deck was previously offline, and whether the pause starts immediately or grows during a session. Those details match the developer’s diagnostic question.
Keep slow map opening separate
Meledept reported that opening the map took almost eight seconds late in their run, also on Deck. The thread does not contain a follow-up showing that this symptom was fixed. Updating is a useful version check, not proof that it resolves the map issue.
Audio layering has its own released music-stacking fix. Treat the symptom and platform separately when reading patch notes.
